The universe created by Quino is transformed into a 1,300 m² experience at the Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires. The project incorporates 56 PROLIGHTS fixtures supplied by NASH Ingeniería, featuring a range of lighting, framing, color, effects and movement tools for an immersive journey where scenic sets, projections and interactive content come together.

Mafalda was born on paper, in ink and in black-and-white comic strips. More than six decades later, her universe adds volume, sound, movement and color in Mafalda Inmersiva, an experience that invites audiences to physically explore some of the spaces and situations associated with the character created by Joaquín Salvador Lavado, known by his pseudonym Quino.
Presented at the Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires, the experience spans 1,300 m² divided into 13 rooms and combines scenic sets and three-dimensional sculptures, 360° projections with surround sound, touchscreens, original music and an optional multi-user virtual reality experience.
Within this environment, lighting is integrated into a proposal where different visual languages must coexist throughout the visitor journey.
The project incorporates a total of 56 PROLIGHTS fixtures supplied by NASH Ingeniería, the brand’s distributor in Argentina. These include 46 DisplayCob TRWDFC, 2 Mosaico FX100FC, 4 EclProfile JrProG2 and 4 Jet Profile300LT.

Different tools for an immersive universe
Most of the inventory consists of 46 DisplayCob TRWDFC, 60 W RGB/FC LED track-mounted projectors. The model supports both color and white presets ranging from 3,200 to 10,000 K and uses interchangeable optics that allow the beam angle to vary from 15° to 60°. Its format is particularly suited to installations, commercial spaces and galleries.
They are joined by 4 EclProfile JrProG2, 100 W LED profiles with a manual zoom ranging from 25° to 50°. Their optics are designed to provide projection uniformity and framing precision, while the ability to use gobos expands their capabilities for applications requiring greater control over the light.
The supplied equipment also incorporates solutions capable of taking lighting into a more dynamic realm.
The 2 Mosaico FX100FC are 100 W RGBW projectors developed to generate images and effects. They incorporate two controllable effects wheels and support different optics and gobos, allowing textures and visual movement to be created.
Completing the setup are 4 Jet Profile300LT, profile moving heads featuring a 300 W white LED source and an output of up to approximately 12,000 lumens. Their motorized zoom from 3.9° to 44.1°, CMY color mixing, linear CTO, four framing shutters, rotating gobos, animation wheel, frost and prisms offer a wide range of possibilities for controlling and transforming the beam.
The exact configuration and the function assigned to each model within the different rooms are part of the project’s lighting design and were not specified. However, the equipment’s features demonstrate the diversity of available resources: from track-mounted lighting and precise framing to color, textures, projection and movement.

From black and white to an experience to explore
Mafalda Inmersiva starts with an imaginary world familiar to generations and translates it into a different language. Visitors can enter her bedroom, stop by Manolito’s grocery store and explore a city built around Quino’s universe, while images, sounds, objects and sensory elements accompany the experience.
In this new setting, lighting technology joins the tools that allow what lived on paper for decades to take on another dimension.
Lighting goes far beyond making an environment visible: it creates sensations, accompanies every moment and redefines the experience of those who inhabit a space. That is what visitors feel when exploring Mafalda. The color produced by the PROLIGHTS fixtures does not simply illuminate the space; it helps tell the story of an experience.
“From the very beginning, I noticed a significant improvement: even with all the equipment switched on, the fan noise was much lower. The difference compared with other alternatives tested previously was evident and exceeded expectations,” says Maximiliano Moreno, PROLIGHTS Product Specialist at NASH Ingeniería.
Speaking about color treatment and the combination of CMY + RGB systems, Moreno explains: “The immersive experience at Mafalda alternates scenes with highly saturated colors and others that require more delicate shades. To achieve this variety of nuances, we make extensive use of the mixing possibilities offered by both CMY and RGB.”
The project also brought together a team of professionals who played key roles throughout its development. Sergio Gracia was responsible for the lighting design, defining the show’s visual concept; Franco Marful oversaw the installation, bringing that design into the physical space; and Ariel Ponce handled the programming, translating the creative decisions into the control system. Three closely connected areas that, through a collaborative effort, brought the lighting concept to life on stage.
With the 56 PROLIGHTS fixtures supplied by NASH, Mafalda Inmersiva incorporates light, color, precision and dynamic possibilities into an experience that proposes something as simple as it is ambitious: stepping, for a little while, into a world that until now we had known through comic strips.
