Italy – RCF has announced that its X Series loudspeakers have achieved EN 54-24:2008 certification, a key requirement for loudspeakers used in voice alarm systems within fire detection and emergency evacuation installations. The certification adds a new dimension to the series, making it suitable for projects where safety requirements are as critical as audio performance.
Developed for demanding fixed installations, the X Series combines concert-grade sound reinforcement capabilities with the durability required for permanent indoor and outdoor applications. Featuring IP55 protection, UV-resistant finishes, and corrosion-resistant polyurethane enclosures, the loudspeakers are designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions while maintaining long-term reliability.
The certification covers both point source and line array models, offering solutions for a broad range of installation scenarios. Among the certified products is the X 40, a two-way loudspeaker capable of delivering up to 142 dB maximum SPL through dual 10-inch neodymium woofers with 3-inch voice coils and a 4-inch titanium neodymium compression driver coupled to a 110° × 60° asymmetric horn.
Also included is the X 28L line array module, which produces up to 140 dB maximum SPL using a 3-inch titanium neodymium compression driver and dual 8-inch neodymium woofers with 2.5-inch voice coils. Designed with a constant directivity coverage of 110° × 20°, the system allows up to 16 modules to be suspended from a single fly bar with inter-cabinet angles adjustable between 0° and 20°.
Completing the certified range is the compact X 08 point source loudspeaker, delivering up to 128 dB maximum SPL through an 8-inch neodymium woofer with a 2.5-inch voice coil and a 1.75-inch PKX/neodymium compression driver, providing 100° × 100° coverage.
Across the entire series, RCF has focused on mechanical durability as well as acoustic performance. Each cabinet features a one-piece enclosure equipped with multiple rigging points, corrosion-treated steel U-brackets, watertight multi-pole connectors, and aluminum front grilles finished with powder coating and water-repellent backing material.
The loudspeakers also incorporate RCF-designed transducers that combine lightweight neodymium magnetic structures with pure titanium or PKX diaphragms, delivering linear frequency response, high efficiency, and dependable long-term performance under demanding operating conditions.
To maximize system performance, RCF recommends pairing the X Series with its XPS Series DSP amplifiers. Combining high-efficiency Class-D amplification, advanced onboard DSP processing, and full RDNet integration, the platform enables real-time remote monitoring, precise system alignment, and centralized control across complex installed sound systems.
With EN 54-24 certification now added to the X Series, RCF expands the application range of one of its flagship installation loudspeaker families, offering consultants, system integrators, and venue operators a solution capable of meeting both professional audio performance standards and the regulatory requirements of modern voice alarm systems.
