Romania – The National Theatre Bucharest has installed 32 Claypaky Arolla Profile MP fixtures from the city’s Marbo Trade, Claypaky’s exclusive distributor in Romania. The investment upgrades two venues inside the venue replacing ageing conventional fixtures with state-of-the-art LED lighting technology.
“The fixtures were chosen primarily for their high light output and lightweight design, which played a decisive role in the purchasing decision,” reports Laurentiu Iordache, director of lighting at the theatre. “Since some of the theatre’s rigging points cannot accommodate heavy loads, the Claypaky Arolla Profile MPs proved to be the ideal solution for use across the various venues.”
The Arolla Profile MPs’ extended operational lifespan also reduces maintenance requirements and ensures long-term reliability in compliance with the latest industry standards. “Being a profile LED helps cut down lamp replacement costs and energy consumption,” adds Iordache. “Another plus for theatrical use is the fixture’s silence when running at full strength.”
The majority of the Arolla Profile MPs were installed on upper rigging points and distributed across three trusses to provide frontlight, mid-stage light and backlight coverage. This distribution enhances flexibility in lighting design while ensuring uniform stage illumination across different performance set-ups.
“Since the first production, the fixtures have performed flawlessly,” notes Iordache. “The transition from the old halogen system to the new LED technology was seamless, with the Arolla Profile MPs ensuring a smooth adaptation process. In addition, the fixtures provide improved colour rendering and consistency, further enhancing the overall lighting quality on stage.”
Iordache points out that “the support from Claypaky and Marbo Trade was fantastic. Before we made the investment, Marbo brought the fixtures here for a detailed presentation and in-depth analysis with testing in all the venues and under all circumstances to ensure they were the right fit for the theatre.”
