Ilumina bets on grandMA3 and positions itself as a technological leader in Peru.

With one of the most significant investments of the year in the Peruvian market, Ilumina strengthens its leadership by adding several grandMA3 products, consolidating itself as the company with the strongest MA Lighting presence in the country. A commitment that combines business vision, top-tier technical support, and the conviction that the grandMA3 software is now essential for any professional production. This is the story behind a decision that redefines the industry standard in Peru.

The entertainment industry in Peru adds a major milestone: Ilumina, one of the most influential companies in the country, confirmed the acquisition of two consoles grandMA3 full-size, one grandMA3 light, and two grandMA3 Processing Unit L—an equipment package that positions the company as the strongest operational force for MA Lighting in Peruvian territory. The decision not only marks a technical leap but also reaffirms a business vision based on innovation, reliable support, and the conviction that grandMA3 software is now the indispensable tool for any high-level professional production.

The operation, closely accompanied by Novolite, MA Lighting’s official distributor in Peru, was the result of an analysis process that considered both MA’s technological trajectory and the support culture that Alarico Sánchez has built in the region. For Guillermo Riera, owner of Ilumina, that combination was key: “We didn’t just buy two full-size consoles, the light, and the PUs. We also bought the Command Wing. But the most important thing is that for years, Alarico Sánchez has supported us with persistence, good energy, and immediate solutions. He made us trust MA, and today the brand is a global benchmark: if there is no MA, there is no show.”

Technology that makes a difference in an increasingly demanding market

Ilumina operates in multiple areas: weddings, corporate events, and a strong presence in concerts. In this last segment, working with MA stopped being an option to become a requirement: international artists arriving in the country demand an MA console without exception. “I can tell you that 95% of the artists coming to Peru request it. They come with their presets and programming done in MA. There is no way to work with another brand,” Guillermo explains.

The technological update will impact all of their segments. Although a grandMA3 full-size is designed for large productions, Ilumina also integrates it into weddings and special events. This not only raises the aesthetic and operational standard but also surprises clients, who immediately recognize the system’s quality, flexibility, and power. “It makes a difference. The console gives you a different kind of control, integrates perfectly with our kinetic equipment, and expands possibilities,” he adds.

Support, training, and a relationship that drives growth

One of the pillars behind this decision was after-sales support. Guillermo Riera summarizes it with a clear analogy: “When you buy a car, you buy the service. With MA and with Alarico, I always have a guarantee. If a part is missing, if maintenance or a backup is needed, the response is immediate. In this business, that is essential.”

Continuous training is also part of Ilumina’s DNA. Its technical team has traveled to Argentina, Chile, and Colombia to train with MA specialists. The courses offered by Novolite keep the staff aligned with the constant updates of the grandMA3 software. “Knowing the console 100% is almost impossible, but understanding its macro and its development already puts you on another level. And if MA opens new trainings, we will be there,” Guillermo says.

A company driving the Peruvian market forward

For Novolite, this purchase not only reflects Ilumina’s growth but also the strengthening of MA Lighting in Peru. “Today, Ilumina is the company with the most MA consoles in the country. There is no other with that strength. They have MA2, MA3, Command Wings, Fader Wings, the PUs. They are the standard-bearer,” Alarico states.

The relationship, however, goes beyond commercial. Novolite supports the development of the business, understands the type of productions Ilumina handles, and adjusts each solution to its operational reality. “Guillermo has vision and knows his market. We simply help materialize his planning. And MA also supports us with global backup,” Sánchez acknowledges.

In the short term, Novolite plans to introduce new technologies—such as PoE nodes and tools for fixed installations—while preparing to participate in ISE 2026. Guillermo has even expressed interest in accompanying them and having direct contact with the MA Lighting team.

A 35-year path and a future powered by MA

Guillermo recalls starting at age 14, when lights—mirror balls and the first effects from Claypaky or Chauvet—were the stars of the show. That passion for standing out through innovation led him, over time, to incorporate sound, structures, LED, generators, and large-scale equipment, eventually positioning himself among the most relevant companies in the country.

Today, he states that the investment in MA once again sets a standard: “When you have important equipment, people look at you differently. The competition knows that Ilumina has 2 plus 1, and I am sure they won’t be the last. This business is like a healthy addiction: you want more and more. And if you commit to a brand that gives you support and training, that is success.”

With this acquisition, Ilumina not only strengthens itself internally—it contributes to the development of the Peruvian professional lighting market, raises production standards, and reinforces MA Lighting’s presence in the region.
