The expansion of audio technology and sound systems in Uruguay has found a key ally in Luces Pro, a pioneering company positioned as one of the leaders in installation, consultancy, and after-sales service for professional audio and lighting equipment. Since its founding, Luces Pro, currently led by Inés Berrutti, has built an impeccable reputation in the sector. Its partnership with WORK Pro, a brand renowned for its quality and durability in the professional audio market, has been instrumental in this growth.
One of Luces Pro’s most recent and ambitious projects was the installation of a comprehensive audio system in the Punta Carretas Shopping in Montevideo. The company faced the challenge of covering the common areas, gourmet food court, and technical corridors of this iconic Uruguayan shopping center.
The Punta Carretas Shopping Center occupies the former facilities of the Punta Carretas Penitentiary, originally inaugurated in 1915. Following a major prison riot, the penitentiary was vacated in late 1986 and remained empty for several years. In 1992, private investments facilitated the recycling and remodeling of the building, transforming it into a new shopping center.
Inaugurated in 1994, Punta Carretas Shopping underwent a significant expansion and remodeling in 2018 to provide better and more extensive services. Today, this vast shopping center aims to be much more than a place for shopping and entertainment. Constantly evolving and innovating at the forefront of the global sector, it is now a mixed-use project that blends shopping, hospitality, gastronomy, gyms, and offices.
Punta Carretas Shopping has become a universe where leading local and international brands converge, featuring a carefully curated mix of services. Its most distinctive feature: light and sound as elements of identity. Its new sound system, a fundamental part of its soul, provides a shopping experience like no other.
Regarding the modernization project, Gerardo Hernández, General Manager of Luces Pro, stated:
“In this project, we installed 66 units of the IC811T model, 22 of the IC611T, eight Neo8 units, and four PA5000 amplifiers.”
The 480 W PA5000 amplifiers were specially designed by WORK Pro for installation. These include a three-band equalizer (high, mid, and low frequencies), a balanced input, a stereo jack input, 4- and 8-ohm impedance output, and 70V or 100V line operation. Thanks to their auto-signal compression feature, they are protected against speaker short circuits.
“Additionally, for the technical corridors and evacuation areas, we opted for 32 TC15AH horns and a PA4150 amplifier. The choice of these devices was no coincidence; WORK Pro was selected for its ability to deliver excellent message intelligibility, uniform coverage, and quality musical programming—key aspects of the auditory experience for visitors,” Hernández added.
Inés Berrutti highlighted that the partnership with WORK Pro was solidified in 2018 after the Uruguayan company attended Prolight + Sound, the renowned Frankfurt trade show in Germany, followed by a visit to Equipson Group’s facilities in Valencia, Spain. Since then, Luces Pro has had the constant support of Ricardo Martínez, WORK Pro’s advisor, who provides Luces Pro with technical updates to optimize every installation and stay current with market innovations.
“WORK Pro has become a benchmark for quality and durability in Uruguay, offering competitive prices and performance that reduces maintenance costs while maintaining customer satisfaction,” Berrutti noted.
Customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and according to Berrutti, the most frequent comment is repeat purchases—a clear indicator of the satisfaction WORK Pro products deliver. Among the most popular devices, the Neo line has been exceptionally well-received for its easy installation, high quality, and low maintenance, making it highly appealing to commercial clients.
With a strategy that encompasses large commercial projects, restaurants, nightclubs, churches, theaters, and conference rooms, Luces Pro has established itself as a key player in Uruguay’s professional audio market. This approach aligns with the growing trend among businesses in the country to enhance the customer experience, where sound plays a central role. Moreover, Luces Pro projects a future of expansion with WORK Pro, currently working on large-scale projects, including two supermarkets and a national museum, reflecting its ambition to grow and solidify its position as a leader in commercial audio solutions in Uruguay.
Luces Pro and WORK Pro are undisputed benchmarks in Uruguay’s installation market. As Berrutti shared:
“We have several clients using WORK equipment in their businesses. I’d like to highlight the most recent projects by technician Rafael Ackerman for Paprika’s commercial spaces in Atlántico Shopping Punta del Este and Montevideo, with a commercial area of 800 square meters.” Today, businesses aim to enhance their customers’ experience, and sound improvement is part of that trend. For this, Luces Pro relies on WORK Pro’s quality and innovation.
The Uruguayan company continues evolving in the commercial and large-surface installation market alongside the Spanish brand. Currently, installations are underway in two supermarkets and a national museum.
In the dynamic and growing audio industry, Luces Pro and WORK Pro have proven to be a winning combination, committed to excellence and innovation. This synergy enables Luces Pro to continue paving a path of progress in the audio and lighting sector, delivering an unmatched auditory experience to every project they undertake.
Thanks to Luces Pro, Punta Carretas Shopping brings sound to life for Uruguayans.
