The exchange between professionals from different markets, the evolution of IP workflows, and advances in artificial intelligence shape Dan May’s perspective on ISE 2027 and the opportunities it represents for Latin America.

For Blackmagic Design, ISE is a meeting place that provides an opportunity to connect with Latin American professionals, understand their challenges, and share experiences about the evolution of audiovisual production. In an industry where technologies and processes are constantly changing, the exchange of knowledge is becoming increasingly valuable.

Dan May particularly highlights the opportunity to connect with professionals from different regions and learn how they approach their projects.

“It’s an opportunity to exchange ideas, learn, and understand what our industry colleagues are working on, regardless of where they are located.”

Different markets, new perspectives

According to May, one of the most interesting aspects of ISE is the interaction between Latin American and European professionals. Comparing their experiences reveals differences in production processes, even when similar technologies are being used.

“It’s always interesting to see what customers in Europe are working on and how a workflow that may seem standard in Latin America can be different there, and vice versa.”

These conversations help broaden perspectives, identify new ways to address challenges, and enrich project development in both markets.

IP, immersion, and artificial intelligence: what’s ahead at ISE 2027

Looking ahead to the next edition, May anticipates that one of the major topics will be the adoption of SMPTE ST 2110 IP workflows and the development of infrastructures capable of integrating these technologies efficiently.

“I think one of the main trends and topics of conversation will revolve around SMPTE 2110 IP workflows, how customers can adopt them, and how to build an integrated and productive infrastructure.”

Blackmagic Design has been working in this direction with solutions such as the URSA Cine 12K LF 100G and URSA Cine Immersive 100G cameras, the ATEM 4 M/E Constellation IP switcher, and the HyperDeck ISO Recorder 100G, designed to meet the requirements of IP video in live production.

Immersive content and artificial intelligence will also feature prominently. Regarding the latter, May highlights “the capabilities of DaVinci Resolve 21.1, which incorporates integration with AI assistants such as Claude, Claude Code, and ChatGPT Codex to simplify media organization, editing, and rendering tasks through natural language instructions.”

For May, ISE 2027 will be another opportunity to continue these conversations and learn how professionals are incorporating these tools into their creative and technical workflows.
