Mexico – A graduate of Berklee College of Music, producer, musician, and sound explorer Alyosha Barreiro has appeared in iconic venues in Mexico and around the world including at Glastonbury Festival, thrilling audiences with performances that combine electronic music with live, and often traditional pre-Hispanic, instruments.
And Alyosha’s extraordinary talent proved ideal to showcase Sound xR immersive audio at the recent Sound:Check Xpo 2026 held at the World Trade Center in Mexico City.
Local NEXO distributor Representaciones de Audio (REPSA) configured a 360-degree immersive system featuring NEXO P10 front and ID24 surround speakers supplemented by L18 and IDS110 subs, with amplification and processing from NEXO’s NXAMP Powered TD Controllers.
Thirty-two sound objects including electronic sounds, mic’d instruments and sampled sounds from nature were placed and moved in a spatial soundscape using the intuitive Sound xR Image Controller and rendered to sixteen speaker outputs using NEXO’s DME10 Immersive Audio Processor, which also applied a 3-dimensional large symphony hall reverb.
“This performance shows us not only how Sound xR empowers musicians and composers with new creative opportunities, but also how it delivers an exciting new experience for audiences previously used to conventional, ‘front of house’ sound” comments NEXO LatAm Sales manager Hely Chirinos.
“And although it’s a relatively small system at Sound:Check Xpo, it also shows how Sound xR can be rigged and operated quite easily in mobile applications.”
“I’m really excited by the world of creative possibilities opened up by immersive sound for composition and live performance” says Alyosha.
“I love how sound can move through space and create a much deeper emotional connection with the audience. It feels like a very inspiring way to tell stories and create experiences through music.”
