Croatia – Mediteran Produkcija d.o.o. is a highly successful full production company based in the lively Croatian seaport of Split – the country’s second city, the largest in Dalmatia and regional capital of the Split-Dalmatia County. Mediteran works nationwide, around the Balkans region and in other parts of Europe and is an independent, family-owned company run by Denis and Marina Pletikosa. Over the last nine years, they have invested steadily in Robe moving lights.
A major influence in bringing Robe onboard as a brand of choice was lighting designer Marko Balić who has now been working full-time at Mediteran for eleven years, after leaving the construction industry for the glitz, glamour, and equally hard graft … of show and event lighting.
When Marko arrived at Mediteran, there were a number of unbranded moving lights in the inventory, but he and Robe’s very persistent distributor, LAV Studio, kept on demonstrating Robe products to Denis, who has a penchant for technology, and in 2016 with additional encouragement from Marko, he was persuaded to invest in Mediteran’s first 16 x Robe Pointes.
This proved to be hugely beneficial, and the Pointes were seriously better than the other beam lights that Mediteran had at the time. In fact, everyone involved was somewhat surprised that the Pointes even exceeded their expectations and just how much of a difference they made to how well shows and events could be lit.
Marko continued the story: “Next, we needed some new washes, so after the Pointes it was natural to look at Robe again, and this time we bought some LEDWash 600s.”
Mediteran also started growing fast. While that was obviously due to multiple factors, the decision to invest in Robe was definitely part of the trajectory.
The company now has 12 full-time employees and supplies a plethora of productions, including concerts and music shows, conferences and business events, fashion activations, weddings, and private parties – everything except touring.
The purchases have continued and currently most of Mediteran’s moving lights are Robe products which in turn has “boosted creativity and imagination and allowed us to deliver better and more spectacular results for our clients,” elucidated Marko, whose personal first choice of moving lights continues to be Robe.
The most recent purchases were 24 x LedPOINTES, delivered earlier in 2025 by LAV Studio, and the lighting department now has a great selection of Robe products, including Tarrantula LED wash beams, BMFL Blades, LEDBeam 150s, SuperSpikies, Tetra2 LED battens, CycBar15s, miniPointes and MiniMe effects lighting luminaires.
The original 2016 Pointes were recently sold – all in good working order – and they have been replaced by the LedPOINTES.
“LedPOINTES are great fixtures for us … we had been anticipating this product for some time, and now it’s here, so we are delighted,” he commented, having now put them through their paces on plenty of shows impressing everyone.
They particularly covet the CMY colour mixing system and the fixture’s small size, which was also one of the many advantages of the original Pointe … small size and light weight.
Marko also thinks the LedPOINTE gobos are great together with the precision focusing and excellent brightness for a compact LED engine. Like many, he also appreciates the radical SpektraBeam effect, a patented module allowing the generation of highly distinctive beamy visuals by splitting the light into sabre-like individually coloured shafts. Highly original skyflower-style and other aerial effects can be programmed with vibrant colours, interesting patterns, and cool shapes.
In addition to all the creative advantages that Robe brings to the table for Marko and Mediteran’s other LDs, he highlights that the brand is also universally accepted on riders, so when they are providing a rig for an international artist who will typically bring their own LD, they are always happy to see Robe on the spec list.
Marko has been an advocate for Robe for many years now and has visited the factory in the Czech Republic no less than five times, most recently at the start of 2025 – where he set eyes on the LedPOINTE for the first time.
While a number of Robe lights will always be prominent in his own designs, Marko’s all-time favourite Robe moving light – to date – is the Tarrantula, with a 60W RGBW and 36 x 40W RGBW LED multichips, is a powerful LED wash beam first launched by Robe around five years ago. “They have a fantastic beam – I absolutely love that massive beam, especially when using the first ring of LEDs!” he declared.
He loves being creative with lighting and the constant learning opportunities that come with being a lighting designer.
