dBTechnologies has announced the launch of the Ingenia IG5TR, a new loudspeaker for live and installed sound applications that incorporates beam steering, proprietary SPD (Speaker Position Detection), and a modular design.
The IG5TR is the latest member of the Ingenia column series. It’s equipped with one 3-inch (1.4-inch-exit) compression driver paired with three 10-inch woofers in a two-way asymmetrical quad-amplified configuration integrating beamforming and beam steering technologies.
At the core of the new loudspeaker is a proprietary Asymmetric Waveguide (AWG), designed to optimize vertical coverage from 930 Hz to 20 kHz. The five-path waveguide design minimizes internal turbulence through precision-shaped curves and minimizing comb filtering in headstack mode with two IG5TR units paired top-to-top. The horn provides vertical dispersion of +20/-55 degrees, a horizontal dispersion of 90 degrees and can be rotated within the speaker by ±90 degrees for added adaptability to various scenarios.
Digital control allows users to vertically shape and steer the sound beam in both stand-alone and paired configurations. Beamsteering offers seven vertical coverage tilt steps (from -10 to +10 degrees) available in stand-alone and headstack modes. It adjusts the vertical beam width (narrow or wide) for paired loudspeakers in headstack mode.
A four-channel Class-D amplifier module with PFC delivers 4 x 400 watts RMS, achieving up to 1600 watts of audio power. By optimizing impedance for the IG5TR’s custom transducer chain, the amplifier offers greater dynamic efficiency for highly controlled and responsive transients.
The IG5TR offers smart control via an integrated DSP and a high-brightness OLED display for real-time monitoring. With onboard RDNet connectivity, users can remotely manage the system, while the 24-bit/96 kHz AD/DA converters are designed to ensure audio fidelity. The SPD (Speaker Position Detection) technology uses infrared sensors and an onboard accelerometer to automatically sync paired loudspeakers for easier setup.
The Ground Stack Accessory (GSA-IG5TR) provides an adjustable stand for optimal alignment with any subwoofer, with all movable components securely integrated into the structure. The configurable flybar is reversible for extreme positive and negative inclinations and includes a detachable section with pre-drilled holes supporting the direct mounting of C-clamps or other rigging systems to increase the system’s adaptability, making it suitable for both permanent installations and mobile events.
