After five years with the curtain closed, the Teatro Oficial Juan de Vera in Corrientes reopened its doors completely renovated: a state-of-the-art infrastructure that combines automated machinery, a large-format console, and a 100% LED system featuring CHAUVET Professional fixtures installed by NASH Ingeniería.

The light of a new beginning
“Teatro Vera is, literally, a treasure for the city, for the province, and for international visitors,” says María Marta Vizcaíno, technical director of the emblematic cultural venue. Her voice expresses not only professional conviction but also personal emotion: “As a Corrientes native, witnessing its reopening—after more than five years of inactivity—is a symbol of resilience, modernization, and vision.”
In the middle of this year, with a gala that combined art and emotion, the lights of the Vera turned on once again. But this time, with a technological leap that positions it among the most modern stages in the country: new stage motors, automated battens, an advanced console, an Artnet network with Genetix nodes, and most notably, a complete 100% LED lighting system with CHAUVET Professional fixed and moving fixtures.
“It is much more than the reopening of a historic hall: it is the arrival of new systems that place it on the level of major world stages,” says Vizcaíno. The decision to keep it closed longer to guarantee a comprehensive renovation was key.
And the result is evident: energy efficiency, technical versatility, scenic quality, and a renewed experience for artists, technicians, and audiences.

Choosing the right equipment for a stage of excellence
The decision to incorporate CHAUVET Professional fixtures responded to a concrete need: equipping Teatro Vera with a modern, flexible, and reliable stage lighting system capable of adapting to a diverse program that includes opera, dance, symphonic music, and theater.
With more than 160 years of history, the venue requires technological solutions that match its patrimonial legacy and demanding artistic activity.
NASH Ingeniería’s proposal considered those particularities from the beginning, and the choice of CHAUVET was no coincidence: its fixtures offer a combination of precision, light output, and integration ease that perfectly fit a theater of these characteristics. In addition, the brand offers a line of silent products, something essential in a venue with privileged acoustics like the Vera, where any mechanical noise can interfere with the audience’s experience.
Another key factor was the versatility of the selected models, which allow detailed programming for complex productions without sacrificing operational efficiency. The ability to handle scenes with multiple intensities, smooth transitions, and dynamic color palettes expands the expressive resources of the theater’s technical team. In that sense, the arrival of Chauvet not only brought technology: it brought new narrative possibilities to the Vera stage.
The new lighting system includes high-performance models. In total, 32 Ovation E-910FC ellipsoidals, 16 Ovation E-2-FC, 16 Ovation F-915FC fresnels, 36 Ovation P-56FC pars, 12 COLORado Batten Q15 linear fixtures, and 24 Maverick moving heads were installed: 12 Force S Profile and 12 Force 2 BeamWash.
“We chose fixtures that allow the highest level of flexibility, because this theater hosts everything from opera and symphonic concerts to dance and contemporary theater,” explains Jorge Barcala, partner and project lead from NASH Ingeniería. This adaptability was a priority from the design phase, ensuring that every show has the necessary tools to achieve the highest visual standard.
Beyond technical performance, the transition to a LED system brought significant operational and energy benefits. “Before, a single batten exceeded 10,000 amps per phase. Today, one batten reaches only 10 amps per phase,” notes Vizcaíno. She also highlights the reduction in maintenance, longer lifespan, and lower operational cost. “Today the lighting designer can explore endless alternatives. The artistic quality is immensely superior.”
The integration work was completed in record time. “We had to install everything in 15 days. Despite logistical delays, we met the deadlines and the result was impeccable,” recalls Barcala. The setup included a network of strategically placed nodes, a new wiring logic, and a flexible structure that allows the space to be adapted without compromising technical performance.

A local project with international impact
Beyond the technological leap, the renovation of the Vera marks a milestone in the region’s cultural management. “The companies that arrive at the theater are impressed. Their first reaction is surprise—they take photos—and then they realize they are going to work with top-level equipment,” says Vizcaíno enthusiastically.
Today the Vera is already on the radar of international companies, festivals, and large-scale cultural events. Since its reopening, it has received public recognition, been invited to the International Tourism Fair, and positioned itself as a scenic hub in the NEA and beyond. “The possibilities are endless. And all thanks to the civil works and the comprehensive scenotechnical renovation,” she notes.
The new stage machinery also transformed daily work. From manual rope systems and physical effort, they moved to automated structures with GIS motors and SRS controls. “That completely changes working conditions, optimizes time, reduces risks, and improves the work environment,” highlights the technical team.
The reopening gala, organized by Lourdes Sánchez—the theater’s director—was another milestone. “In addition to the institutional performance, two more shows were held for the public. It was a decision that reflects the spirit of this new stage: an open, approachable, and modern theater.”
A partnership tested by everything
For all of this to be possible, the participation of NASH Ingeniería—an integration company specializing in scenotechnics with extensive experience in theaters in Argentina—was essential. “Working with Nash was impeccable. They accompanied us every step of the way, from advising to installation and commissioning,” acknowledges Vizcaíno.
Having a local partner with the ability to supply, provide technical support, and commit to the project made the investment viable. “We know we can count on Nash for any update or issue. It is the only way for the new scenotechnics to be a truly sustainable investment,” she assures.
Barcala agrees: “Being part of this project was an honor—not only because of the magnitude of the theater but because of what it represents for Corrientes and for national culture. Today Teatro Vera stands at the level of the best.”
With a renewed technical and artistic perspective, Teatro Vera shines with top-tier technology, and CHAUVET Professional fixtures are an essential part of this new stage that combines history and future.
A cultural heritage reborn with its own light.
