The power of D.A.S. sound systems once again rock Viña Rock 2014.

Once again D.A.S. Aero Series 2 line array systems were
on hand to bring powerful sound to the 2014 Viña Rock Native Art Festival, held
annually in Villarrobledo, Albacete. This year’s spectacular line-up included
big names like the Reincidentes, Def con Dos, Sober and the unstoppable
Rosendo, drawing in crowds of over 60,000 festival-goers a day who descended
upon the festival’s three stages to hear their favorite performers.

Madrid-based company Fluge was called in to handle the
sound installation working closely with D.A.S. Audio and deploying D.A.S. Aero
Series 2 systems on the festival’s three main stages. Repeating the same stage
configuration as previous years, the Negrita and Poliakov stages were set up
side-by-side and used alternatively; here the sound technicians opted to
install the sound for both stages in a central formation that was “shared” by
both stages. Thus, the Negrita’s left PA formation was the right PA formation for
the Poliakov stage during its alternative use.

An army of 36 large-format D.A.S. Aero 50 line array
systems were rolled out for the left and right arrays of the two main stages.
These systems were distributed in a classic L-R configuration along with the
unique “shared” central array, each with 12 systems Aero 50´s. These systems
were augmented by 36 D.A.S. high performance self-powered LX-218A subwoofer
units for the crucial low frequency boost, ground stacking the systems under
each line array in 12-unit blocks.

D.A.S. Convert 15A and Convert 12A systems handled front
fill at this year’s Viña Rock. Side-fill duties were taken care of by three
Aero 12A systems piled on two LX-218CA subwoofers, and the various artists that
crossed the stage during the event had a battery of self-powered D.A.S. Road
12A and 15A stage monitors at their service.

With the control station set up 50 m from the stages and
the audience area going beyond 100 meters,  the team decided to install
two relay towers 60 m out. Each tower was equipped with eight Aero 40A ALAS™
(Advanced Line Array System). Back for a second year after their live-event
debut at Viña Rock 2013, these latest generation systems rounded out the sound
on the Negrita and Poliakov stages to provide full coverage of the massive
audience area.

Aero 50s were also brought in to handle the sound for the
Doogee stage. Twelve of these systems were flown on either side of the stage in
an L-R arrangement and were matched with 22 LX-218CA subwoofers. These were set
up in two main blocks of nine units each on either side of the stage and a
third block of four units ground stacked center stage. Front fill at the Doogee
stage was handled by D.A.S. Convert 15A and Convert 12A systems, while side
fill was taken care of by three Aero 12A stacked on two LX-218A subwoofers. The
unbeatable Road 12A and 15A stage monitors rounded out the army of D.A.S. Audio
systems that once again ensured superb sound at this year’s Viña Rock.
