More than 120,000 people enjoyed four incredible
nights of dynamic entertainment at the 2014 Fiesta Nacional de la Vendimia
(National Grape Harvest Festival) at the Frank Romero Day amphitheater
located in Mendoza, Argentina.

A variety of Robe products were specified for the
huge open air main stage including 54 x MMX Spots, 12 x MMX WashBeams, 32 x
LEDWash 1200s and 62 x LEDWash 600s all from Robe’s ROBIN series, together with
144 x Robe LEDForce 18 RGBW PARs and 50 x Robe CityFlex 48s, some other moving
heads and around 250 conventionals.

The lighting rental companies involved were
Pampin Luces from Buenos Aires and Vidal, Arte Sonoro y Visual S.A. from
Mendoza, the latter also providing the sound system for the event. The
production Lighting Designer was Mariano Velazco.

One feature that really helped the technical
crews during set up and technical periods was the on board wireless cards in
the ROBIN fixtures, which saved hours of time in running data cables.

Technician Pedro Pampin, explained, “The
versatility of the Robe fixtures and their various features were vital to a
neat and efficient set-up. In my opinion, Robe offers all the features you’d
want from premium brand equipment, and even more with the wireless
functionality which allows us the flexibility of placing units in harder to
access places”.

Some lights were rigged on trusses over 20 meters
high, specifically the MMX WashBeams which were focused on front and key
lighting.

Pedro continues, “The LEDForces, with their
multichip colour mixing and their high brightness have no other competition in
the local market. The CityFlexes are versatile and attractive and were used as
footlights on the main stage, while the LEDWash 1200s are great all-purpose
lights!”

A grandMA2 network – running 17 DMX universes –
was used for lighting control throughout the venue.

The festival set-up took six days with several
companies working closely together to achieve a real world class show.

Among many attractions during this high profile
event was a big live dance and music opening act; the election of the
Vendimia’s own beauty queen and a son et lumière extravaganza
called “Sinfonía Iluminada de Gloria” – which was the highlight of the event
and performed live every night – plus numerous other celebrations related to
grapes and wine-growing.

Several local bands also performed including Los
Auténticos Decadentes, Soledad Pastorutti, El “Chaqueño” Palavecino,
Babasónicos and Tan Biónica.

Mexican musician Armando Manzanero was one of the
international artists who played songs during his show-stopping set with many
well-known Argentinian artists who were
also joined onstage by a 20 piece local orchestra conducted by renowned
composer and arranger, Lito Vitale.
