The Opus – German Stage Award is given
for outstanding artistic achievements in the use of professional event
technology. It is awarded annually at Prolight + Sound, the international trade
fair of technologies and services for entertainment, integrated systems and
creation. With a change in the competition rules this year, it is now also
possible for groups to submit projects – i.e. award winners can be individuals,
project teams or companies. Entries can be submitted now at http://www.prolight–sound.com/awards

The award
ceremony will take place on 6 April 2017 in the Saal Europa at Messe Frankfurt.
The deadline for entries is 4 November 2016.

The
possibility to enter actively for the award was introduced last year.
Previously, projects were nominated solely by an expert jury. With numerous
high-calibre entries, this new development proved very successful in its first
year.

Opus –
German Stage Award

Opus
focuses the spotlight on outstanding achievements in lighting design, technical
realisation, stage sets, scenery and production and is one of the most
prestigious awards in the event technology sector. The honorary award is
sponsored by the German Entertainment Technology Association (Verband der
Medien- und Veranstaltungstechnik – VPLT), the European Association of Event
Centres (Europäischer Verband der Veranstaltungs-Centren – EVVC) and Messe Frankfurt.
It is presented annually in various categories by a jury comprising industry
association members, industry experts, media representatives and
representatives of Messe Frankfurt.

In 2016,
the Opus Award went to the internationally active lighting designer Björn
Hermann. He received the award for his staging of the Fraunhofer Annual
Conference 2015. The production concept revolved around the creative use of
moving lights, which took centre stage at the event.
