This
year, for the first time, NEXO’s flagship STM Series modular line array was in
action on the Pepsi stage. In another
Latin American first, the new M28 double 8” cabinets were the main modules in
the PA arrays, in an extensive NEXO system supplied by a team effort between
rental companies Arbol Naranja and Audionexo, supported by the NEXO distributor
Sound Logics and field engineer Roberto Tschopp from NEXO itself.
Using
NEXO’s proprietary NS-1 modelling and prediction software, Roberto Tschopp
helped the rental providers to design a main PA with 9x STM M28 main cabinets
per side, flown with 6x STM S118 subs per side.
With a significant EDM element on the Pepsi Stage, the sub-bass was
boosted by 12x NEXO RS18 subs on the floor, running in cardioid mode.
Pooling
their inventories allowed the two rental companies to provide a full system for
the 100m long (40m wide) audience area of the Pepsi Stage. A wide variety of NEXO cabinets were
deployed: distinctive silver GEO T cabinets for delay and side fills, PS Series
for engineers’ near-field monitors, 45°N-12 wedges and PS15-R2s for stage
monitoring, and a RS18/STM groundstack for the DJs’ monitoring.
Francisco
Melendez of Sound Logics explained that, “although the three stages were
separated by only about 300 metres, the NEXO stage PA was so directional, clear
and powerful that the engineers had no trouble controlling the coverage and
SPLs to the audience, without having to worry about bleeding out of the Pepsi
Stage area.”
The
system was running on a Dante network.
