Once again, Luis Miguel, the international icon of Latin music, dazzled his fans with his unmistakable voice. He conquered the stages of Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, delivering a show filled with his greatest songs and creating unforgettable moments for all attendees.
The success of these concerts not only reflects Luis Miguel’s unparalleled talent but also the exceptional sound quality of MEYER SOUND systems, which were deployed throughout the tour in collaboration with their representative in Argentina, JONS SILBERSTEIN. Without a doubt, this combination of a unique voice, charisma, live orchestra, and cutting-edge sound technology ensured an unmatched experience.
Based in Buenos Aires, Jons Silberstein stands out for its commitment to excellence, safety, and a meticulous approach to all details. Their facilities in the Liniers neighborhood are fully equipped to meet their objectives: a large 400-square-meter warehouse with sturdy metal shelving, a maintenance workshop, and offices for all staff. They also have their own transportation and a modern forklift to ensure efficient and safe operations.
The solid infrastructure of Jons Silberstein, along with their working methodology with MEYER SOUND, was a key factor in our conversation with Pablo Silberstein, Pablo Jons, and Luciano Forastieri Cipolla, where we learned more about the company. They mentioned that the company is distinguished by its transparent marketing policy, its focus on safety, and its ability to adapt to the latest technologies.
With more than 26 years of experience in the Argentine market, the company guarantees a top-notch acoustic experience. “We adapt our audio equipment to each space to offer professional and safe sound,” says Pablo Silberstein.
Since its inception in 1989, Jons Silberstein has experienced continuous growth in the sound industry in Argentina. Over time, the demand for high-quality equipment led the company to discover and adopt Meyer Sound. In 2004, they took a significant step by acquiring their first equipment from this renowned brand, marking the beginning of a lasting relationship.
“We are a company dedicated solely to audio, so it’s a priority to invest in upgrades and staff,” adds Silberstein, highlighting their philosophy of constant commitment to providing excellence in the professional sound sector.
Since then, the company has not only been a loyal user of Meyer Sound products but has also become the exclusive distributor of the brand in Argentina, reflected in an impressive stock of equipment.
Among the available models are the Panther, Leopard, Lina, Milo, M2D, M1D, Ultra-X40, JM-1P, UPA-1P, UPA-2P, UPJ-1P, UPJUNIOR, MTS4, 2100LFC, 1100LFC, 900LFC, 750LFC, 700HP, 650P, USW-1P, UMS-1P, MJF210, MJF208, UM-1P, Galaxy 816, Callisto 616, and Galileo 616. They undoubtedly have the capability to offer acoustic solutions tailored to the specific needs of each event.
The opportunity to handle the sound installation for Luis Miguel’s tour arose through the production company Fenix Entertainment Group and the artist’s executive producer, Javier Rolo.
In Pablo Silberstein’s words: “The decision to use our equipment for Luis Miguel’s tour was due to our solid track record and experience with the brand. They knew we are a company committed to the quality and advanced technology that Meyer Sound offers.”
And so they worked on iconic stages during the tour, including the date at La Rural in Buenos Aires for an exclusive Dinner Show, the Campo Argentino de Polo in the same city, the Estadio Instituto in Córdoba, Argentina, the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, and the Estadio La Nueva Olla in Paraguay.
Luciano Forastieri Cipolla, in charge of the technical team, also emphasized: “The use of Meyer Sound at these events not only reflects our preference for the brand but also the confidence it gives us in each project. They are synonymous with excellence in sound, which is crucial to ensuring a unique show.”
Regarding the equipment specification for the tour, the JONS SILBERSTEIN team was responsible for proposing the appropriate speakers and making the necessary predictions. This process was supported by Oscar Barrientos, Meyer Sound’s technical support manager, who worked closely with them to ensure that all technical goals were met.
The design and programming of the sound installation were handled by Luciano Forastieri Cipolla, who ensured every detail was perfect. His dedication and experience were key to achieving the high sound quality standards that characterize Luis Miguel’s events. He himself points out: “A correct specification and prediction of the equipment, along with technical support, were crucial to achieving optimal sound on each of the tour’s stages.”
During Luis Miguel’s tour, various Meyer Sound equipment models were used, each with a specific role. The PANTHER system was installed as the main PA and Side PA, providing robust and precise acoustic coverage. The front fills were made with LEOPARD and LINA models, ensuring even sound distribution in the audience area. For the delays, MILO speakers were used, optimizing sound clarity at greater distances.
Meyer Sound’s technology played a crucial role in the tour, standing out for its flexibility and efficiency. According to Luciano, “The Panther system is lightweight, and its user-friendly rigging system made setup quick and efficient.” Pablo Silberstein assures that “Meyer Sound’s self-powered technology is essential to handling the challenge of setups with little time between shows. This not only simplified the process but also ensured that each event had the expected sound quality. The flexibility and speed of the equipment helped each show run smoothly, despite logistical challenges.”
The setup and programming of the sound system for Luis Miguel’s tour were carried out with technical precision using advanced tools. The equipment was adjusted using Smaart, an essential tool for acoustic calibration. Additionally, two DPA 4006 microphones were used, one equipped with Lectrosonics technology and the other located at FOH, to ensure accurate measurement and optimal system adjustment.
For sound management and distribution, five GALAXY units were used: one at FOH and four on stage, distributed two on each side. Of these, one unit handled the PA, Outfills, and FrontFills, while the second managed the Subs. A Galileo Callisto was also used to distribute the Delay outputs, allowing for great flexibility and control over the sound at each event location.
Despite the precise specification and prediction of the equipment, the setup presented significant challenges that required constant adaptation to the various arenas and stadiums. One of the main differences encountered was the need to adjust the sound system design based on the audience distribution at each venue. As Luciano explained: “Adapting to each stadium according to its audience distribution, whether on the field or in the stands, led us to make different decisions regarding the design of the delays, including heights, locations, and the number of boxes per stack. The goal was to interfere as little as possible with the audience’s visibility and seating arrangement at each venue.”
This meticulous approach allowed for sound optimization that considered the unique features of each space, ensuring that the auditory experience remained consistent and of high quality throughout the tour.
At each show, from the first in La Rural to the last in Paraguay, a dedicated and professional team was key to the successful installation. Rene Rafael Gilli, Omar Aguirre, Antonio Alvarez, Luis Calmon, Ignacio Villalba, and Luciano Forastieri Cipolla were responsible for each setup, ensuring the equipment was ready and functioning on time for each show, as well as resolving any unforeseen issues.
In particular, during the Gala Dinner at La Rural and the prior setup at Campo de Polo, Ariel Garcete, Gabriel Sosa, and Lucas Fernández were involved.
As Silberstein highlighted, “The work of this team was essential not only to meet deadlines but also to face and overcome adverse weather conditions, including rain, wind, cold, and extreme temperatures like those experienced in Paraguay. Their dedication and ability to adapt to each challenge were crucial to the tour’s ongoing success.”
The collaboration with Meyer Sound was vital not only in technical terms but also in the continuous support provided by their staff, such as Oscar Barrientos, who played a crucial role in Luis Miguel’s tour.
Oscar, with 21 years of experience at Meyer Sound, was a key support for the entire Luis Miguel tour, ensuring the success of each show with his vast experience and technical knowledge.
He has become a reference in customer support and training in the use of the company’s tools: “My main role is to provide technical support to clients and technicians in the use of Meyer Sound tools. I am also part of the Instructor team, performing both roles primarily in Latin America, but I have recently been doing this work in Asia and Europe.”
During this tour, Oscar played a crucial role with the JONS SILBERSTEIN technical team. In his words: “My role was to collaborate on system design for the various venues, as well as co-participate in system tuning and provide support to the artist’s system technician. We held meetings to discuss the artist’s requirements since I also co-participated in one of his concerts in Venezuela. This allowed us to understand in advance how they work so that we could assist them better.”
Oscar also discussed some challenges and their solutions implemented during the tour, stating: “The challenges were different depending on the venues where the artist performed. In one case, a powerful but lightweight system was required to cover a large hall without obstructing the view, and the design could be adjusted without lowering the array due to the low weight of the boxes. In larger spaces, we used the PANTHER system with side coverage complements, achieving coverage of extensive areas like the polo field. The integration of products from different generations, such as PANTHER and Milo, was facilitated by the ‘Product Integration’ tool in the GALAXY processors. This allowed for effective coverage throughout the audience area, considering the differences in frequency response between the products.”
In short, the collaboration between Meyer Sound and Jons Silberstein, with the support of Oscar Barrientos and Luciano Forastieri Cipolla, was essential to the success of Luis Miguel’s tour. This tour not only highlighted the artist’s exceptional talent but also demonstrated the importance of cutting-edge technology and sound excellence in creating a unique and memorable experience for fans.
