Christmas has come early for lighting designer Grant Olivier, with the arrival of his new grandMA3 onPC lighting console delivered by DWR Distribution’s Cape Town branch.
Olivier has been involved within the live events industry since his student days, actively involved in dramas and concerts while weekends were spent working as a freelancer. The past year has been exceptionally busy as he took on the role of touring lighting designer for Goodluck, a South African electronic music band. “I love turning a dull space into something amazing,” Olivier commented “and helping artists create epic moments onstage with creative and dramatic moments.”
Having worked on the grandMA2 platform for several years, Olivier recently had the opportunity to operate on a grandMA3 console and it marked a turning point for him. “I was looking for a portable touring solution that could give me flexibility for both small and larger shows,” the designer explained, “and the grandMA3 was the only solution that stood out to me, being compact, powerful and internationally recognised.”
Johnny Scholtz, who heads the DWR Cape Town office, added: “It’s so enjoyable to see someone taking delivery of new gear. Grant’s enthusiasm is quite contagious, and we’re optimistic that the console will serve him well. Patrick Manicom and I will be readily available to provide technical support whenever needed, but we know that Grant is a natural and it should be smooth sailing.“
“It has been amazing to watch Grant spread his wings in the industry,” said Duncan Riley, managing director of DWR. “His youthful spirit coupled with large amounts of passion and dedication are simply incredible to witness, seeing his dedication and the quality and execution of his work just makes you feel proud of what he has achieved. Thank you Grant for your support.”
