The Lake
Festival was back again this year in the Austrian city of Graz, with D.A.S.
Audio professional sound systems making a return appearance to play an integral
role in the success of this massive electronic dance music (EDM) celebration.
The largest festival of its kind in Austria, this multi-day, multi-stage event
featured a star-studded line-up of some of the world’s best DJs including Steve
Aoki, DJ Snake, Chase & Status and Martin Garrix.
Local
company Getec Eventtechnik GmbH was called in to handle the sound for the
festival’s Moon Stage, and the sound team, led by Jakob Gailhofer, decided to
design a sound solution based on D.A.S. Audio’s Aero Series 2, robust systems
that could handle the rigorous demands of the three-day event.
After
numerous successful collaborations, Getec once again decided to work with
D.A.S. Audio’s distributor in Austria K24 Technik & Vertrieb GmbH, with
Johannes Stummer at the helm, to supply the sound for the Lake Festival 2016.
D.A.S. Systems Engineer Joel Damiano was also on hand, making the trip to
Austria to help with system set up and adjustment.
Twenty-four
of D.A.S. Audio’s powered D.A.S. Aero 40A ALAS™ systems, rigged in two linear
hangs of 12 systems per side in a classic left-right configuration, were
deployed on the Moon Stage. These powerful systems were matched by a small army
of D.A.S. LX-218A high-performance subwoofers (16 in total) together with six
of the ultra-low frequency UX-221A systems.
This
impressive set of gear was rounded out with eight D.A.S. AERO 12A as front
fill, brought in to provide even sound coverage for the down-in-front fans. Two
lateral sets of four additional Event 210A, which were stacked on two Event
218A, handled side fill. These powerful clusters served as “mega monitors”, packing
the punch required by the DJs who took their turn at the tables over the course
of the festival.
Already
Austria’s most popular EDM event, this year’s Lake Festival brought the event
even closer to earning a spot among the top tier of European festivals. The
exceptional performance of the D.A.S. systems for a second year running once
again demonstrated the versatility of the Aero Series 2 line array systems,
designed to provide flawless sound for a full range of large-scale events.
